Voorheesville Dionysians will present
"The Laramie Project"
The Voorheesville Dionysians will be presenting a staged reading of "The
Laramie Project" on Friday, November 9 and Saturday, November 10
at 7:00 p.m. in The High School Commons.
"The Laramie Project" is a play written by Moisés Kaufman and the
Members of Tectonic Theater Project. It was written after the killing
of Matthew Shepard, a young man who was brutally murdered because he was
gay.
In an effort to explore the question of how such a heinous crime could
happen in any community, The Tectonic Theater Project journeyed to
Laramie, Wyoming after the murder of Matthew and the trial of his
killers and conducted interviews with the various people involved in the
case and people in the community. The play is a compilation of those
interviews and of actual words spoken during the days surrounding
Matthew’s death.
"The Laramie Project" contains the real words that were spoken by people
of the town and the theater project. The subject matter and language
is intense and not appropriate for children. Because of this,
children of middle school age or younger will not be admitted unless in
the presence of an adult.
Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door. |
