8th Grade Field Trip to New York City
A soggy day did not dampen the spirit of the 8th graders as they made
their annual field trip to New York on October 19. The students
participated in a walking tour of the immigrant neighborhoods of the
lower east side of Manhattan. The tour, led by guides from Bid
Onion Walking Tours, included sampling ethnic foods such as fried
plantains, Kosher pickles, fresh mozzarella, and ice cream from the
Chinatown Ice Cream Factory (flavors: Green Tea and Red Bean!).
The trip ended with a ferry ride to the immigration museum on Ellis
Island where students were able to walk in the footsteps of the
immigrants.
