First annual Harvest Festival set for Friday, Nov. 6
Enjoy a fun-filled evening emphasizing healthy lifestyles
October 30, 2009—Enjoy food, crafts, dancing
and prizes during the first annual Harvest Festival on Friday, Nov. 6,
from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Voorheesville Elementary School. Admission is
free. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The event is sponsored by the Voorheesville PTA in honor of the new
school and community garden—Blackbird
Paradise. Features include food sampling, a
contest for elementary students, a group mosaic, craft stations, gym
activities, nutrition displays and family dancing with "Peter, Paul and
George" of Homespun Community Dancing.
Visitors will experience more than 20 food stations, which feature
sample dishes created by area chefs, including Emma Cleary's Cafe,
Honest Weight Food Co-op, Jake Moon's Cafe, Mangia, Ric Orlando's New
World Bistro, Sake Cafe, Smith's Tavern, Stewart's Ice Cream, Tesoro
Italian Restaurant, Yellow Rock Cafe and more.
Collection boxes will also be available for those interested in donating
toiletries to the New Scotland Community Food Pantry.
