Iraqi/American Student Art Project Exhibit runs October 6 through
November 3
Reception highlighting the collection Oct. 13
October 1, 2009—A
crimson fire bird takes flight from a half dead tree. The dead branches
are entangled in the blackened rays of a menacing sun. The living
branches reach out to a blue sky raining diamonds on to a golden Samara
Mosque. This describes one of the twelve foot murals that are the work
of the Iraqi/American Student Art Project. Art from Americans working
with Iraqi students, artwork from a school in Baghdad, and works from a
group of local Iraqi refugees will be on display this month at the
Clayton A Bouton High School and Voorheesville Middle School Art PAC Art
Gallery.
The collection will be available for
viewing beginning October 6 through November 3. Since this is the
premier showing of this collection, a reception to highlight the art
work will take place on Tuesday, October 13, from 2:35-3:30 p.m. in the
PAC Gallery.
