A message from Superintendent Dr.
Teresa Snyder regarding H1N1
(October 22, 2009) - As expected we are
beginning to see more and more “flu like illnesses” which are affecting
students and staff. We have not had any confirmed cases of H1N1 reported
to our offices. That is most likely due to the fact that confirmed cases
are rare because of the limited number of submissions to diagnostic
labs. Locally, medical facilities are treating the increase in cases as
probably related to H1N1. The precautions remain the same and we urge
you to keep your child home if he or she complains of feeling ill. We
are maintaining a positive approach to cleaning and disinfecting. Our
nurses are working diligently to attend to children who develop symptoms
during the day and we are sending children home when they present with
symptoms here at school. We appreciate your cooperation as we try to
minimize the impact of this virus on the children of Voorheesville. As
described in the news, this is affecting young people much more
powerfully than older people. We will continue to keep you informed of
any information pertaining to the flu like illnesses identified in the
school. Again, thank you for your cooperation.
