Fall
Blood Drive exceeds goal
(October 21, 2009)-Faculty,
students and staff members at Clayton A. Bouton High School and members
of the community donated 67
units of blood at the school’s fall blood drive on Tuesday, Oct. 20—surpassing
their goal of 54 units.
Student Council President Jenny Belgiovine said she
was pleased with the turnout.
"I wasn't sure if we'd get the number of
participants we've had in the past because of the Red Cross' new
restrictions," said Belgiovine. "It was great to see the school
community and members of the greater community come out and give blood
to help someone else."
Erin Wascavage of the American Red Cross shared the
following statistics from yesterday's blood drive:
The school holds two blood drives each year, one in
the spring and one in the fall. High school seniors who give blood are
given credit toward the community service hours they must earn to
graduate.
Tom Gladd, faculty advisor to the Student Council,
praised the students for organizing the event, saying it helps provide
an invaluable service to people in need.
“Once again we’ve had a successful blood drive and
we’re very pleased with the results. I’d like to thank the Student
Council for organizing the drive and Jenny Belgiovine for her leadership,” Gladd said.
The spring blood drive is currently scheduled for
Tuesday, March 30, 2010.
