Board adopts 2009-10 proposed budget
April 7, 2009—On Monday, April 6, the
Voorheesville Board of Education adopted a $21,662,438 budget
proposal for the 2009-10 school year, representing a zero percent
spending increase over the current year’s budget.
With the support of the promised federal stimulus money, the
district was able to reduce the projected tax levy increase to 1.69
percent and avoid some of the forecasted staff cuts.
In addition to the budget vote and
Board of Education election in May, voters will be asked to
decide on a proposition to purchase one 60-passenger school bus for
$99,600.
Voorheesville Central School District residents will go to the polls
on Tuesday, May 19, from 2 to 9:30 p.m. in the Voorheesville Middle
School foyer.
Community members are encouraged to attend a public hearing on
Monday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
