Faculty,
students and staff members at Clayton A. Bouton High School donated 54
units of blood at the school’s fall blood drive on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
Student Council President Taryn Smith said she was
pleased with the turnout, even though the results were slightly lower
than what previous drives collected.
“Many of the school’s athletes who wanted to
participate couldn’t because this is sectionals time for them. I thought
it went very well considering that,” Smith said.
The school holds two blood drives each year, one in
the spring and one in the fall. High school seniors who give blood are
given credit toward the community service hours they must earn to
graduate.
Tom Gladd, faculty advisor to the Student Council,
praised the students for organizing the event, saying it helps provide
an invaluable service to people in need.
“Once again we’ve had a successful blood drive and
we’re very pleased with the results. I’d like to thank the Student
Council for organizing the drive, Taryn Smith,” Gladd said.
Everyone who donated blood on Tuesday is now
eligible to win tickets to the 2007 World Series at Fenway Park in
Boston.
The American Red Cross is offering a chance to win a
pair of tickets to each World Series Red Sox home game during the 2007
World Series. All who present to donate blood at an American Red Cross
Blood drive across the Northeast Division beginning Tues., Oct. 23, and
Wed., Oct. 24, can enter to win the chance of a lifetime to see a World
Series game at Fenway Park. Drawings will be held prior to each home
game. Tickets are non-transferable and one ticket must be used by the
winner. For more information,
