Sculpture 1 & 2
Teacher: Ms. Marie Triller ext. 350
Sculpture 1 & 2 are each half-year courses with a prerequisite of Studio in Art.
Sculpture 1 students will explore the three-dimensional form through a variety of media such as plaster, wire, wood and found objects. Projects include subtractive carving and the creation of large Pop Art pieces.
Sculpture 2 is not offered this year
Sculpture 2 will present more advanced problems, such as mold making/casting and creating a site-specific work of art. Students will participate in a five day workshop with artist Michael Wells, in which they will create a portrait head in clay.
All students will be introduced to artists, past and present, with special emphasis on contemporary trends in sculpture. A Fall field trip to the Empire State Plaza Art Collection in Albany is a highlight of the course.
