General Information: Core Courses Grade 6
Classroom Procedures:
We review homework daily so students must come to
class with completed assignments. Students should be ready to work
cooperatively with peers and do their best.
Homework:

Homework will relate to the daily lesson,
reinforcing what is taught in class or introducing the next day’s
lesson.

Students are expected to write neatly and in
full sentences.

Homework is due in class the next day unless
otherwise stated.

Homework will be marked late if not in class
when reviewed. Grades will be greatly reduced if homework is late.
Grading Policy:
4 = Neat, complete, on time, good effort
3 = Late but in by 2:40 on due date
2 = One day late
1 = More than one day late, if permitted
0 = No work completed
Music lessons:
Students must inform the teacher that they will miss
class due to a lesson. Homework is due that day and the student must
pick up homework assignments before dismissal.
Absences:
Assignments given before the absence are due when
the student returns to school. Students will be given one day extension
on assignments for each day absent. It is the student’s responsibility
to give this work to the teacher.
Extra help:
If a student wants to stay after school,
arrangements should be made ahead of time. Students can take the late
bus on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.
Communication:
Core teachers check e-mail messages daily. This is
the best way to communicate with these teachers.
