The Board of Education believes that all children are capable of learning and the education of each child is everyone’s responsibility. The educational success of each student depends upon a commitment to excellence on the part of teachers, administrators, support staff, parents, community members, the Board and the students themselves. The goal of the district is to provide each student with a strong foundation of knowledge and experiences to prepare him/her to be a productive citizen and to value lifelong learning.

Learner Exit Outcomes

To fulfill our mission, all of the above parties will work together so that each student achieves, to his/her fullest potential, the following learner outcomes:
1. Students will demonstrate knowledge and the application of skills in academic areas.
2. Students will demonstrate ability to access information and effectively communicate.
3. Students will demonstrate esteem, confidence, discipline and respect for self and others.
4. Students will demonstrate the ability to be critical, analytical and creative thinkers, able to solve problems individually and cooperatively.
5. Students will demonstrate the skills and values to become productive citizens and active participants in democracy.
6. Students will demonstrate an appreciation of the humanities, world cultures and the environment.

Educational Philosophy

This nation is founded on the basic premise of the worth of the individual. The soundness of each individual and the degree to which his or her goals and hopes are realized help to shape the total society in which we live. The Board of Education believes that the educational process plays a substantial role in helping to maintain this basic premise.

In order to prepare students to lead fulfilling and satisfying lives, it is necessary to provide educational opportunities that include a broad curriculum, a high quality professional teaching staff, adequate support staff, sufficient and high quality educational supplies and materials, and sound administrative practices to coordinate and supervise these various factors. These educational services must be delivered to young people in a way that is caring of each individual’s needs, but, at the same time, demands personal effort and discipline on the part of each student, appropriate to that student’s age and abilities.

The Board recognizes that formal education received at school is only one of the avenues through which these goals can be reached. Family, religious groups, and the community at-large are vital factors in this process as well. In this respect, the Board wishes to work with all groups to receive their input to the final benefit of all of the children of the community.

The Board further recognizes that the school is a central focus in the life of the community, serving many groups such as senior citizens, special community-oriented non-profit groups, and adult learners. As such, the school’s facilities and services can often be used for excellent purposes by such adult groups.

The realities of the world are such that the financing of the educational program is always a concern. The Board will plan its educational program with an eye toward priorities which the community has helped to identify. The Board recognizes that available resources may limit the setting of some goals, no matter how worthwhile they may appear to be.
