New York State Diplomas: 22 credits
4 credits of English & 4 credits of Social Science
3 credits of Science & 3 credits of Math
1 credit of Foreign Language or the Level 1 Proficiency Exam*
1 credit of Art or Music
2 credits of Physical Education & a ½ credit of Health
3 ½ credits of electives
Student Community Service in the Senior
Year-Voorheesville School District Graduation Requirement
Every student shall provide a minimum 15 hours of
community service during the senior year. Community service will be a
component of the senior Social Studies Unit. The Board of Education
recognizes that there are many people and organizations in our community
that need assistance. Community service is a positive experience that
helps the school system grow through interaction with those receiving
assistance.
Regents Examinations must be passed in the
following areas to earn a high school diploma:
Math A, Science, Global Studies, U. S. History, &
English.
1. A REGENTS DIPLOMA is earned by scoring a 65 or higher on all 5 exams.
2. An ADVANCED REGENTS DIPLOMA is earned by scoring a grade of 65 or
higher on 8 exams*.
In addition to the 5 Regents examinations,
students must score a 65 or higher on:
1. the Math B Regents Exam
2. an Additional Science Regents exam (one Life Science/one Physical
Science)
3. and fulfill one of two choices for sequence requirements
EITHER
*3 credits of Foreign Language and the Regents exam.
OR
*5 credits in fine arts, art, music or occupational education (business
or technology).
3. A LOCAL DIPLOMA is earned by scoring a minimum of a 55 on a specific
number of exams based on the following.

4. A LOCAL DIPLOMA may also earned by students who participate in a
special education program and are offered an additional, alternative RCT
examination. The required score is 65 on RCT’s (Regents Competency
Tests).
Note: The Regents Competency Test safety net for students with
disabilities will continue to be available for students entering grade 9
prior to September 2010. Students using this safety net will receive a
local diploma. The low-pass option of scoring between 55-64 on the
required Regents exams to earn a local diploma will continue to be
available for students with disabilities, without local option.
**Exemptions from foreign language apply to some students who are
assigned a special education program.
***Students with specific individualized educational plans may pursue an
IEP Diploma.
