District residents approve $21.6 million budget
proposal

District residents approved the 2008-09 budget proposal and all three
budget propositions in the school elections held Tuesday, May 20, 2008.
Voters also elected a new member to the school board. Lisa Henkel
defeated Michael Snyder 621-332.
Residents voted 620-391 in favor of the $21,662,438 budget proposal,
which includes a tax levy of $14,508,947, up 1.12 percent over the
current budget.
Residents voted 681-324 in favor of a proposal to buy two new school
buses and 680-312 in favor of a proposal to use $95,000 of the
district's fund balance to subsidize the district's school lunch
program. A proposal to lower board term limits from five to four years
was also approved, and the change will take effect July 1, 2008.
